A Day in The Lakes

We spent a wonderful day out in The Lakes to celebrate our nephew’s birthday, we began in Haverthwaite where we boarded the steam train at Lakeside and Haverthwaite railway.  We took the train to Lakeside, where among other attractions is The Lakes Aquarium, we took a boat cruise on Lake Windermere  from Lakeside  to the popular town of Bowness where we had a lovely walk through the town culminating in a visit to the Beatrix Potter Museum.  Before boarding the 16:00 boat back to Haverthwaite we enjoyed a delicious ice cream from The Lakes Ice Cream Shop, which we ate next to the lake, watched the swans and took in the beautiful views across Lake Windermere. On our return to Haverthwaite we traveled 6 miles to the Mason’s Arms at Strawberry Bank where we had tea, which was delicious and the perfect way to end a a fantastic day out. It is so nice to be able to take our dog with us, she had her own ticket on the boat and train! Cute!  So many other things to do in the lakes, we are going to go try Brockhole next time.
